$85,000 cell phone bill from Bell

Piotr Staniaszek of Cal received his cell phone bill from Bell Mobility this month – nearly $85,000!, He bought the Motorola Krzr which allows him to connect with his computer, downloading and transfer data to his computer.

A bill that large is extremely rare, Bell spokesman Jacques Bouchard said “A bill that large is extremely rare, “What happened is that the client used the cellphone as a modem linking it directly to the computer and downloading huge files, … high-res movies for instance.” Bell said they will adjust bill in “a measure of goodwill”, however he will still owe more than $5,000.

Staniaszek nornally pays $150 a month. In and interview he said “I didn’t know what to think. I thought there was probably a mistake. The thing is, they’ve cut my phone off for being like $100 over. Here, I’m $85,000 over and nobody bothered to give me a call and tell me what was going on. Nobody explained any of this to me.”

Bouchard said Bell Mobility cannot monitor the activities of every one of its customers.
