Bell Samsung Galaxy Quick Video Review

Bell and Samsung released the Galaxy and it’s the first Android powered device for both of them. There are many things that I like about the Galaxy and the other things that are now common and simply don’t stand out anymore.

First and foremost, this device runs off OS 1.5 which has been around for the past year and offers nothing new when it comes to Androids offerings. You can still do all your contacts, syncing calendars, e-mail, access to the Android Marketplace (no paid apps yet) etc. In this review we won’t go into detail about the OS but more about what really makes the Galaxy unique.

The Galaxy is the thinnest Android available with overall dimensions of 116 x 56 x 11.9mm and weighs of 117 grams. With a 3.2-inch AMOLED touchscreen display (made with tempered glass and anti-scratch) this is one of the features that really makes the device. It’s incredibly crisp and viewing your pics shows up very nice. The 5 megapixel camera is located on the back and has auto-focus, LED flash and video capabilities. You’ll see in the video we took some indoor and outdoor pics plus shot a video. The quality of pics were great and it showed up very nice on the screen, but some shots showed were clear while others were over exposed due to the indoor flash. However with a 5 megapixel camera it’ll certainly do the job.

We did some browsing on the web and the lack of multi-touch was a bit of a bother… the only way to zoom in/out is by the magnifying glass icon. One nice addition that Samsung did add is WiFi. Other specs are the 3.5 mm headphone jack, 1500 mAh battery. The Galaxy comes with 8GB of memory and can hold up to 40GB with a microSD card so you don’t have to worry about the memory issues. The speed of the device was good – never slowed down for me. Check out the video for more info on the Galaxy.

This is available only at Bell with a minimum monthly $50 Voice and Data plan: $99.95 on a 3-year contract; $299.95 on a 2-year; 399.95 on a 1-year. You can buy this outright for $449.95 also.
