Here’s a good cause to get involved in. A new initiative that involves the RCMP, OPP and AMBER Alert Agencies have come together for a free opt-in service to get awareness out there of a missing child. For those who subscribe you’ll receive free AMBER Alerts as text messages on their cell phones. All you have to do is text text the keyword AMBER to 26237 and you’ll receive a text message every time an AMBER Alert is up in their province. Hopefully not often.
Looking at the partners page it looks like the carriers involved are TELUS, Bell, Rogers, Koodo, Solo, Virgin, Fido, MTS, SaskTel, Solo, NothernTel, Videotron, Telebec. Missing are the new entrants such as Mobilicity, Wind Mobile and Public Mobile.
