iPhone 4 free case program to end September 30th

When the iPhone 4 launched Apple ran into some reception issues and created a program that gave those who purchased it a free case. The end date was set to expire September 30th with Apple to “reevaluate” the program and come out next with a possible solution. Today Apple gave that update and stating the program is officially being discontinued on the 30th and that the attenuation issues only impacted a “small percentage of iPhone 4 users”. Apple posted on their site:

“We now know that the iPhone 4 antenna attenuation issue is even smaller than we originally thought. A small percentage of iPhone 4 users need a case, and we want to continue providing them a Bumper case for free. For everyone else, we are discontinuing the free case program on all iPhone 4s sold after September 30, 2010. We are also returning to our normal returns policy for all iPhone 4s sold after September 30. Users experiencing antenna issues should call AppleCare to request a free Bumper case.”

This updated was posted on their main site, but not yet updated on the Canadian site. However, if users feel they are having issues they can call AppleCare and get a Bumper, but not any of the 3rd party cases.
