The Apple App Store launched in 2008 and quickly had 10 million downloads in its first weekend… eventually hitting the 1 billion mark 9 months later. Sometime over the next few days the App Store will cross the 10 billion download mark and Apple is celebrating by handing out a $10,000 iTunes Gift Card to the person who downloads the milestone app.
10 billion downloads is incredibly impressive considering Apple has only been in the space for 3 years.
