Because We May sale heavily discounts many of your favourite Android and iOS games

Google, like Apple, Microsoft and RIM, takes a portion of each app sold from its growing Play Store. In Google’s case it is 30% off the top, a sizeable portion of revenue from an already-tough market. But the Play Store is not the only way of distributing and promoting apps and games.

Because We May is an endeavour, much like the popular Indie Humble Bundle, to promote awesome software on various platforms. Many developers across multiple platforms have come together to discount their games “because they may.” The byline is as such:

We believe that developers should have the freedom to price their games how they like, without interference from the online stores that sell the games. Why? Because it allows us to promote our games more freely, as we are doing here! We rely on the ability to promote our games for our livelihood and control over pricing is an important tool for this purpose.

Popular Android games like World of Goo, Shadowgun, Osmos, Cogs, Great Little War Game, Snuggle Truck, and Canabalt HD (the last two were also included in the Humble Bundle) are just a few of the many choices available for up to 80% the Play Store price. iOS games are also discounted — titles like Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP is on sale for $2.99, while popular titles like Puzzlejuice and Riptide GP are 99c.

The sale is on from May 24th to June 1st, and if you’re an Android or iOS gamer (and who isn’t these days?) it’s an awesome opportunity to net some seriously great games for cheap.
