LG shows off its five-inch 440ppi full HD display

LG is showing off a prototype of its upcoming 5-inch full HD Advanced High-Performance IPS screen during Display Week, and from what we can say (through photos) it looks like a stunner. While many would argue that smartphones don’t need to have such high pixel densities — we’re looking at 440ppi here — there’s no disputing that the overall package, from colour reproduction to sharpness to viewing angles, is superior on this part.

While we don’t know when this is coming to market, and LG won’t state whether it will actually arrive in its current form, it’s reassuring to know that we haven’t hit a brick wall with our current display technology, despite knowing that humans can’t discern individual pixels after 300ppi or so.
