Facebook Messenger 1.8 for iOS and Android brings quick switching, bigger photos and more reliable push notifications

Facebook Messenger has become quite a powerhouse instant messaging app, and the version 1.8 update today adds to a few more features to its repertoire. In addition to synchronizing between the web and mobile devices, the team has added the ability to see whether the person you are talking to is currently available (they added read receipts last version). This tells you when an individual or group of people is likely to respond in a timely manner.

The app has also added in-app notifications for multiple conversations, with the ability to switch quickly between them. The entire changelog is below, so get downloading for iOS or Android.

– Quickly switch between multiple conversations with in-app notifications
– Include friends of friends in conversations
– Swipe to delete individual messages from conversations
– See who’s available when you start a new conversation
– Share bigger photos, tap for full screen and pinch to zoom
More improvements:
– Faster app loading, navigating and sending
