New Nova Launcher beta renews competition in Android 4.0+ launcher space

The launcher wars continue with the latest beta version of Nova Launcher for Android. Released as a public beta, Nova 1.3 beta 3 brings many Jelly Bean features to Ice Cream Sandwich-compatible devices (and higher, obviously), allowing around 17% of Android users to take advantage of the new features.

Among the notable features from Jelly Bean, Nova allows you to fling icons off the screen when no longer needed, as well as dynamically move and resize widgets according to your needs.

As always with new launchers, there are speed increases and some stability improvements, though note that if you’re using CyanogenMOD 10 you may not feel these increases over the stock launcher just yet.

You must already be running Nova Launcher 1.2 stable to get the beta update — just head to “Check for update…” and press the three-dot menu button to change to beta version.

Download Nova Launcher from Google Play. There is an optional $3.99 Nova Launcher Prime as well with extra features.
