Rogers has expanded their LTE network coverage today and went live in Moncton, New Brunswick. The coverage map shows that LTE is in the core and Monctonians can potentially reach download speeds of up to 75 Mbps, but typical speeds range from 12 Mbps to 25 Mbps. As for devices, there are several to choose from, such as the Samsung Galaxy S III, Sony Xperia ion, BlackBerry PlayBook 4G LTE.
We’re also hearing from a few sources that Barrie, Ontario is on the cusp of going live. Rogers has a goal to bring LTE connectivity to 20 million Canadians this year and launch in various locations including Ajax, Burlington, Cambridge, Edmonton, Kelowna, London, Oakville, Saskatoon, Windsor, Winnipeg, and Victoria.
Update: Rogers sent us a note stating that “More than 100,000 Monctonians could possibly connect to the network. With Moncton, Rogers now offers LTE to approximately 36 per cent of the Canadian population.”
