Android 4.3 spotted running on a Nexus 4 with new camera interface in tow (video)

An astute visitor to the Thailand Mobile Expo noticed something strange and new about a Nexus 4 rigged up to a demonstration panel: it was running Android 4.3.

The long-rumoured new version of Jelly Bean was expected to be announced last week at Google I/O but instead we got a bunch of new developer tools for all versions dating back to Android 2.2. Still, there hasn’t been a new Android version announced since November, so it’s about time for at least a modest refresh.

nexus4android43-2The photographer, who posted the images to XDA-Developers, found the build number to be JWR45B, with a build date of May 14th, making it just about 10 days old. The camera interface has been refreshed somewhat, though it still employs the divisive thumb-activated on-screen menu.

You can see that the new menu it tiered, and moves around with your finger, making it much easier to activate certain settings without blocking your subjects.

We don’t know much more about the build at the moment, but it’s been rumoured to be announced on June 10th, along with a refreshed Nexus 4 and Nexus 7. It’s only just over two weeks away, so we’ll update you when we know more.
