Google may offer the Nexus 5 in more colours starting next month

The Nexus 5 is currently available in black and white variants, but according to a leaked photo from a Vietnamese site, Google could be in the process of expanding the product’s colour palette.

A leaked photo of a red Nexus 5 from looks fairly real, aligning with rumours of colour additions from earlier in the week. Google already sells Nexus 5 bumpers in a variety of colours, including red and yellow, so it would make sense for the company to offer the actual device in identical hues.

The Nexus 5 has been available since the end of October, and sells in 16GB and 32GB models for $349 and $399 CDN respectively.

Noted Android developer and owner of MoDaCo, Paul O’Brien, hinted that he’s familiar with Google’s plans in regards to coloured Nexus 5 variants, but the “leaks are nowhere near representative of the colours of the actual products.”

February isn’t too far away, so it won’t be much longer before we hear from Google. In the meantime, read our Nexus 5 review.
