PayPal is setting up shop this weekend in Toronto and looking for a few good Canadian developers to battle it out for a chance at winning a cool hundred grand.
PayPal Battle Hack Toronto, it’s global hackathon, starts on Saturday, May 31st and goes until Sunday June 1st at MaRS Discovery District. Participating teams are challenged to develop a mobile app within 24-hours that solves a local problem of their choice, but must incorporate the PayPal API or the Braintree/Venmo SDK. Some of the examples that PayPal lists are to “help charities match donors, improve public transportation planning.”
Whichever team is crowned the regional winner will be flown to the World Finals in Silicon Valley to compete for the “glory” of the axe, plus $100,000 (USD).
