First Apple Watch software update brings performance improvements and better health tracking

Apple has released the first update for the Apple Watch. Watch OS 1.0.1 comes in at 51.6 MB, bringing with it “performance improvements and bug fixes”.

In addition, improvements to Siri, calorie counting when doing indoor cycling and rowing, as well improvements to how the Watch tracks distance and pace for outdoor walking and running workouts are all included in the update.

For those into emojis, Apple has added support for the 300+ new characters that were recently included with the iOS 8.3 update.

The update can only be performed if your Watch and iPhone are at 50 per cent or greater battery power. The update can be downloaded through the Apple Watch app on the iPhone by tapping General > Software Update.
