Telus posts list of Android devices scheduled to receive Lollipop

Following the lead of Fido and Rogers, Telus has become the latest Canadian carrier to set up a webpage dedicated to showing which of its Android devices will likely receive Lollipop.

Telus notes that Lollipop is “in high demand,” and that as “with any new software upgrade, there are no guarantees on when upgrades will be available. They must first be thoroughly tested by the manufacturers, and rollouts are typically a phased process. TELUS has no control over this.”

Telus has broken down the updates into two categories: devices that are eligible for Lollipop and devices that are scheduled to be upgraded. In addition, if a device you own is not on the list, “the manufacturer has determined that it is not eligible for the Android Lollipop update.”

Here is the list of devices that are currently eligible:

  • Sony Xperia Z1 scheduled to receive v5.0.2
  • Sony Xperia Z3 scheduled to receive v5.0.2
  • HTC One M7 scheduled to receive v5.0.2
  • Motorola G scheduled to receive v5.0.2
  • Google/Motorola Nexus 6 scheduled to receive v5.1
  • Motorola X scheduled to receive v5.0.1
  • Google/LG Nexus 4 scheduled to receive v5.1.1
  • Google/LG Nexus 5 scheduled to receive v5.1.1
  • HTC One M8 scheduled to receive v5.0.1
  • Samsung Galaxy S5 scheduled to receive v5.0

Devices scheduled to receive the Lollipop update:

  • Samsung Alpha
  • Samsung Galaxy Core
  • Samsung Galaxy S4
  • Samsung Note 3
  • Samsung Note 4
  • Samsung Tab 8.4
  • Samsung Tab 10.5

Unfortunately, there is no time listed as to when the updates will arrive.

Google’s latest statistics on Android distribution reveal that Lollipop is now on approximately 12.4 per cent of all Android devices. This number is based on the number of users visiting the Google Play Store over the last four weeks.
