WhatsApp voice calling finally arrives on Windows Phone

WhatsApp for Windows Phone

After a seemingly endless wait, WhatsApp users on Windows Phone can finally use the ubiquitous messaging app to call family and friends.

Announced more than a year ago, WhatsApp voice calling has been available on Android, BlackBerry 10 and iOS for several months. Technically, a lucky few Windows Phone owners have also had access to the feature through a private beta. However, now anyone can download the latest version of WhatsApp, 2.12.60, and use the app to call other individuals.

Moreover, smartphones running Windows Phone version 8.1 can also use the updated app to send audio files.

Download WhatsApp from the Windows Phone Store. When you make your first call, make sure to tell the person you’re talking talking to that at least one developer hasn’t forgotten the Windows Phone platform.
