Lollipop is now on 18.1% of Android devices

Google has updated its monthly chart showing the distribution of various versions of Android. While this chart is mainly to provide developers relevant information for platform support, the data provided can be quite useful as a State of the Nation for Android overall.

As of August 3rd, Lollipop now powers 18.1% of Android devices, which represents an increase of 5.7% over the last time Google updated the charts. Trickling down the food chain is KitKat at 39.3%, then Jelly Bean at 33.6%, while Gingerbread and Ice Cream Sandwich make up 8.9% together. Finally, Android 2.2 Froyo, which is now almost five years old and doesn’t seem to want to vanish, is somehow still staying around on 0.3% of devices.
