Sony announces the Xperia C5 Ultra and Xperia M5

While both these new Android devices leaked online a couple of days ago, Sony has officially announced the Xperia C5 Ultra and the Xperia M5.

The Xperia C5 Ultra is the successor to the Xperia C3, referred to by Sony as a “PROselfie” handet for its dual 13MP cameras and front-facing flash.

The C5 Ultra runs Android 5.0 Lollipop and has a “near borderless” 6-inch IPS LCD display 1920×1080 pixel resolution, a 1.7GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6752 processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB internal memory, and a 2930mAh battery that promises two days of life. Its aluminum frame is 8.2mm thick.

As for the Xperia M5, a device that is “defining the super mid-range” category, is a Lollipop-powered Android that features a 21.5MP camera on the back, 13MP camera on the front, and a 5-inch 1080p display. In addition, inside is a MediaTek Helio X10 processor, 3GB of RAM, 16GB internal memory with microSD card slot, and a 2600mAh battery that also promises two-day battery life. The Xperia M5 is constructed of metal on the sides, glass on the back, and is waterproof with its IP65 & IP68 certification.

While there is no mention of a Canadian release or pricing, Sony notes that both the Xperia C5 Ultra and Xperia M5 will launch “in selected countries across emerging markets from mid-August.”
