First OnePlus 2 update fixes Stagefright bug, improves camera speed

OnePlus 2

While the majority of people that added their name to the OnePlus 2 reservation list are still waiting for an invite, OnePlus has gone ahead and started rolling out the first over-the-air update for its latest smartphone.

In a post on the company’s forum, a OnePlus representative outlines the OTA patch. Among other things, it includes a fix that addresses the phone’s vulnerability to Stagefright—a MMS bug that affects the majority of Android devices, not just OnePlus smartphones—and code rewrites that improve its battery performance and user interface. Check out the full list of changes below:

  • Added a patch for the Stagefright security exploit
  • Improves battery performance
  • Improves user interface logic and coherence
  • Fixed an issue with pinch-to-zoom in Google Photos
  • Fixed an issue where Dark Mode would cause instability in certain apps
  • Fixed an issue related to import/export of contacts stored on SIM card
  • Additional support for global carrier APNs
  • Other improvements and bug fixes

OnePlus notes that this update will start rolling out in India before being released in other countries. OnePlus One owners can already ensure that their smartphone is safe against Stagefright by downloading the Oxygen OS update the company released earlier in the week.
