The BlackBerry Passport Silver Edition recently launched, and while its’s certainly a good looking phone, a more interesting version of it could be coming soon – one that runs Android, not BlackBerry 10.
Pictures of the phone surfaced last week, and now there’s a new video, courtesy of Dudu Rocha Tec, that reveals a working model running Android 5.1.
Further details are sparse, but the most notable one is that the name “Oslo” is in the settings, which has long been the rumoured codename of an upcoming BlackBerry device. Specs wise, the phone appears to be the same as the current Silver Edition. It includes 3GB of RAM, a touch-sensitive QWERTY keyboard, a Snapdragon 801 processor, 32GB of internal storage, a 3450mAh battery and a 4.5-inch Quad HD display.
It’s unlikely a device like this will ever be released – Android wasn’t set up to be compatible with 1:1 aspect ratio displays – but it could indicate where BlackBerry is going in its quest to launch an Android phone.
