BlackBerry Priv pictured once again, confirm specs and shows what the camera is capable of

Yes, yet another set of images has surfaced of the upcoming Prive by BlackBerry.

Austria-based derStandard has managed to score a pre-production version of the Android-powered smartphone and has given an early review. The design is the same as what has already been shown off, but the report confirms the following specs:

– 5.4 inch curved display (2560 x 1440 px, with 544ppi)
– Android 5.1 Lollipop
– Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor
– 32GB internal storage (there is a microSD slot
– LTE enabled
– Bluetooth 4.1 and NFC
– microUSB port
– USB 2.0 specification
– 18 megapixel Schneider-Kreuznach camera with a dual flash
– 5 megapixel front-facing camera

The reviewer Georg Pichler, stated, “with a 5.4 inch display the Blackberry Priv is already a pretty large devices and hardly suitable for one handed use. Since its ‘chin’, despite the lack of physical navigation buttons, isn’t too slim either, most interactions can only be done with two hands. The phone’s backside seems to be made of a mixed material which includes kevlar. It feels very rubbery and far from premium, yet on the other hand you easily can keep a firm grip on the device.”

As far as the QWERTY keyboard and the slider, which is called SmartSlide, “has its ups and downs,” say the report. “Since the keys are arranged like little scales, its easy to distinguish them by touch. But Since they are pretty small and already trigger under light pressure, it might take a good while to get used to them and be more efficient than with an onscreen solution.”

The Priv is expected to be available before the end of the year and rumours are that it will arrive mid-November. BlackBerry CEO John Chen stated last week that the Priv will be priced on the “high-end,” but it will “make the phone financially affordable to get.”
