BlackBerry has begun rolling out a small patch for its Priv smartphone, bringing the device up to Google’s latest security standards for January.
Indeed, the Priv is receiving the sought-after security patch before Google’s own Nexus lineup, a commitment BlackBerry has been assiduously following since its announcement back in November.
The patch, a small 16MB file, is first coming to Privs sold on ShopBlackBerry.com as well as a number of carriers around the world. According to BlackBerry representative Michael Clewley, who tweeted out the patch’s announcement, Privs sold at Canadian carriers will receive the update sometime next week.
