GoPro recalls about 2,500 recently-launched Karma drones

GoPro, known for its wearable cameras, has announced that it will recall all of its recently-launched Karma drones, stating that “in a very small number of cases, Karma units lost power during operation.” The company sold about 2,500 units in total since hitting the shelves on October 23rd, and hadn’t yet become available in Canada.

The company said in a statement given to press that it plans to resume production of the drone once the issue is resolved and noted that so far there have been no reports of injury or property damage resulting from the defect.

The Karma drone was announced on September 19th and is GoPro’s first attempt at a quadcopter drone. The drone is foldable and priced at $799 USD sans camera. For now, the Karma is marked as “coming soon” on the company’s website.
