Twitter adds Snapchat-like QR codes for following users

Taking a page from Snapchat, Twitter has added QR codes as a way for users to follow one another.

Presumably, Twitter added this feature to expedite the process of following a user that has a long or hard-to-spell handle. Unfortunately, the company’s current implementation of QR codes doesn’t necessarily speed that process up.

On iOS, for instance, scanning a QR code requires the user to navigate to their profile, tap the gear icon, tap “QR Code,” tap the blue “QR scanner” button before they can finally scan one. Android users must follow a similarly convoluted process.

According to Brittany Forks, head of product development at Twitter, the company is working on ways to simplify the process.
