Videotron becomes first Canadian carrier to announce plans to launch the LG G6

LG announced the beautifully designed G6, its latest flagship smartphone, at Mobile World Congress this week in Barcelona. The Android 7.0-powered device sheds the modular design of the G5 and represents a new strategy for the company.

The 5.7-inch G6 has a ‘Full Vision’ 18:9 2880 x 1440 pixel 564ppi display and what is known is that Canadians will see the Ice Platinum and Astro Black variants be available to purchase early April, possibly as soon as April 7th.

The pricing is not yet revealed, not the carrier partners. During a media event in Toronto, LG Canada stated to MobileSyrup that the G6 will be widely available through several Canadian carriers. It seems Quebec-based Videotron is eager to share the news that the G6 will be added to its lineup as the carrier has gone live with a notice stating it will be “available soon.” Unfortunately, no other details were listed.

Other notable specs of the G6 have an all-glass build and aluminum build with a dual rear camera that features 13-megapixel sensors, with a 125-degree field of view. There is a 5-megapixel front-facing camera, 4GB RAM, powered by the Snapdragon 821 processor. In addition, the G6 is the first smartphone to have Google Assistant integration.
