Between all the countless Galaxy S8 leaks, one detail about Samsung’s new flagship Android smartphone has managed to stay a secret until now: a Canadian release date.
Citing a “senior supply chain source with knowledge of one Canadian cell carrier’s plans,” BGR reports Galaxy S8 pre-orders will ship out to Canadian consumers on April 28th. The website goes on to speculate that, based on past history, it’s likely the S8 will launch in the U.S. on the 28th as well. Of course, it’s possible — especially if supply is limited — Samsung could release the S8 in the U.S. first, with the 28th representing a later Canadian specific launch date.
In either case, both Canadian and American consumers will likely have to wait before they get a chance to get their hands on the S8. Taking a page from LG, Samsung is expected to release its latest flagship in South Korean first. The latest rumours suggest Korean carriers will start accepting Galaxy S8 pre-orders on April 7th, with an official launch slated for April 21st.
Samsung will officially announce the S8 on March 29th at a special event in New York City.
