Microsoft adds its own AirDrop feature in the latest Windows 10 Insider build update

Microsoft designed the functionality called ‘Near Share’ to make file sharing easier. Near Share allows users to share documents, photos and URLs via Bluetooth to other Window 10 PCs.

The Near Share option first appears in the notification center and is accessible through the main share function within a Windows 10 PC. A recipient’s Windows 10 will receive a notification whenever they receive a file.

Near Share is a part of the “Continue on PC’ sharing option featured on Windows 10 laptops, for users who want to shae between iOS and Android devices on Windows 10 PCs.

Alongside the Near Share feature, Microsoft has added support for saving EPUB books and a Mute-a-Tab setting to the Edge browser. The functionality, also seen on Chrome, will silence auto playing videos and ads within new tabs.
